Source Quote (verbatim) Poster Notes Timeframe Posted By
Power of the Jedi Sourcebook. 2002 Wizards of the Coast. Owen K. C. Stephens, Jeff Grubb, Michael Mikaelian, and James Maliszewski. (pg 122) The martial arts form known as teräs käsi (roughly translated as "steel hands") originated in a remote star cluster in the Outer Rim called the Pacanth Reach. Many who have learned the secrets of teräs käsi have brought the knowledge to other corners of the galaxy. Practitioners of teräs käsi also study history, philosophy and metaphysics. Shows general place of origin, that instructors were not confined to one location, and training being broader than the martial skills alone. Taigei - Thanks to Qin
Shadows of the Empire. May 1996 Spectra. Steve Perry. (pg 12) She was as beautiful, if not as ethnic, as the two Epicanthix women fighters in the holograph between them...

(pg 13) "The Pike sisters," Guri said, glancing at the holo. "Genetic twins, not clones. The one on the right is Zan, the other is Zu. Zan has green eyes, Zu has one green and one blue eye, the only noticeable difference. They are masters of teräs käsi, the Bunduki art called 'steel hands.' Twenty-six standard years old, no political affiliations, no criminal records in any of the major systems, and, as far as we are able to determine, completely amoral. They are for hire to the highest bidder, and they have never worked for Black Sun. They have also never been defeated in open combat. This" - she nodded at the unmoving holoproj image again -"is what they do for fun when they aren't working." Guri's voice was, in contrast to her appearance, warm, inviting, a rich alto. She activated the hologram. Xizor smiled, revealing his own perfect teeth. The holo had shown the two women mopping the floor with eight Imperial stormtroopers in some rat's nest of a spaceport bar. The soldiers had been big, strong, well trained, and armed. The women weren't even breathing hard when they finished.

Identifies Zan and Zu Pike as Epicanthix and masters of teräs käsi. Further, shows effectiveness against armored ranged combatants. ANH +3-5 Taigei
Hero's Guide. June 2003 Wizards of the Coast. Deigners: Rodney Thompson, J.D. Wiker. Editors: Michele Carter, Charles Ryan. (pg 50) The martial arts form known as Teräs Käsi is an extremely rare ancient art. The form's origins are found on the world of Bunduki in the Pacanth Reach, populated by a near-Human species known as the Epicanthix. The Followers of Palawa are a secretive sect of hermits that guard the teachings of Teräs Käsi. It is unknown whether or not the Followers created the martial arts style, but nearly all Teräs Käsi masters learned the style by journeying to Bunduki to learn from these keepers. The name Teräs Käsi actually means "steel hands," referring to the toughness of the martial artist's unarmed attacks. The style focuses on power and strength, including varying levels of damage depending on the force that is applied to the attacks. The style is unique, and masters are few and far between. In SWRPG terms, shows planet of Origin and the current role of the Followers of Palawa as "keepers" of Teräs Käsi. Shows that most Teräs Käsi masters learned from the Followers of Palawa. Confirms Teräs Käsi as meaning "steel hands." Taigei - Thanks to Qin
Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter. Jan 2001. Del Rey. Michael Reaves. Chapter 1. Using the momentum of the forward thrust, Maul dived over the collapsing droid before him, flowing smoothly into a shoulder roll. He came up twirling his lightsaber overhead, then stepped down solidly into the teräs käsi wide stance called Riding Bantha. Shows Darth Maul as a teräs käsi practitioner, that he used teräs käsi with his lightsaber, and mentions Riding Bantha as a stance. ANH -32.5 Taigei
Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter. Jan 2001. Del Rey. Michael Reaves. Chapter 1. Maul spun on his right foot and shot his left leg out in a powerful side kick, slamming his boot into the droid's armored chest, stopping it cold. He dropped into a squat, spun the lightsaber like a scythe, and sickled the droid cleanly at the knees. Lower legs gone, it collapsed as Maul again twisted himself and his weapon, flowing into the form known as Rancor Rising. He brought the right blade up between Chain's mechanical thighs, hard, using his leg muscles to augment the strike as he pushed up from the squat to a standing position. The force of his strike bisected Chain from its crotch right through the top of its head. Shows Darth Maul's integration of teräs käsi with lightsaber, and mentions Rancor Rising as a stance. ANH -32.5 Taigei
Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter. Jan 2001. Del Rey. Michael Reaves. Chapter 1. Maul dived again, rolled up in a half twist into the forraderi stance, ready to spring in any direction. Mentions the forraderi stance and it's purpose. ANH -32.5 Taigei
Darth Maul Shadow Hunter June 2001 Page 137 The Jedi was obvioulsy a master of the Teras Kasi fighting arts as well, Judging by the smooth way he parried and counterattacked. This quote is discusing Anoon Bondara(Jedi master) and according to Darth Maul maybe a master(or at least a student) of the Teras Kasi fighting arts

Star Wars: The New Jedi Order Agents of Chaos Jedi Eclipse. 2000 Random Hosue. James Luceno. (pg 130) The droid tilted his head to one side and flapped his stiff arms. "Then you shouldn't permit yourself to watch. This form of hand-to-hand combat has it origin in a martial art developed by the Lorell Raiders when their chief preoccupation was the capture and distribution of female prisoners. While perhaps not as deadly or as mystical in nature as teras kasi-the 'steel hands' technique taught by the Followers of Palawa in the Pacanth Reach star cluster in the Outer Rim-it is nontheless-"

Leia shushed him. "Isolder spent two years as a privateer," she said quietly. "I'm sure he knows a few moves."

Reference to the teras kasi technique by C-3P0. He was commenting to Leia prior to a duel between Prince Isolder and Thane, the archon of Vergill. ANH +25 mcmc70
